The most common mice in Britain are the House mouse and the Field mouse or also known as the wood mouse.

Mice are good climbers and can pass through external gaps as small as 5 mm and into the kitchen, loft or attic spaces, inside voids between the walls and into a room or hidden space within the property.

Mice can also get inside garden sheds, garages, compost bins and under wood decking.

Mice may look cute to some people, once they get into your house they can damage and contaminate food in the kitchen cupboards, storaged items in the loft or attic and spread a multitude of diseases like Salmonella and Listeria via their urine and droppings.

By the time you see a mouse running across the floor it is very likely that an infestation is in progress.

Signs of a mouse infestation are:

  • Rice grain sized black mice droppings: inside and under kitchen cupboards, cabinets, inside loft and attic spaces or scattered around the room floor.
  • Scratching and light scurrying sounds coming from the loft or attic, cupboards, under floorboards, false ceilings or from behind walls.
  • Greasy marks along skirting boards or walls.
  • Strong ammonia smell from their urine, along the room perimeters.
  • Shredded and gnawed food packets, bags or fruit in the kitchen and shredded paper or plastic storage bags in the loft or inside storage cupboards.

Mice carry many harmful diseases and bacteria that can expose your family and pets to illness, they eat and contaminate fruit and vegetables. They may gnaw through electrical wiring, causing fires and failure of electrical appliances and water pipes, with the risk of flooding.

Mouse traps can be effective, but unless you have just one or two mice they will not clear an infestation. The average domestic cat may catch, play with and kill a mouse, but to them it’s only a game

The key to the pest control of mice is for us to first conduct a survey and inspection, looking for fresh track marks, droppings, gnaw marks and possible nesting and entry locations.

If there is evidence of an infestation, then mouse control is achieved by carrying out a Risk Assessment and utilising professional pest control techniques and products, whilst strictly following the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use (CRRU) Code of Practice, helping to keep residents, pets and wildlife protected.

Contact us to eliminate mice quickly to help minimise exposure and protect your family’s and pet’s well-being.

Please note that although we provide a 3 Month guarantee, despite the pest control treatments, the rodents may return if we identify the potential source of the mice outside of your property boundary or coming from your neighbours, within communal building fabric, linked floors or loft spaces. If this is the case, we will advise you to notify the relevant local authority as only they have the power to take any necessary action.

Following our pest controller attendance, some mice entry locations may not be not accessible to seal without removing all the items, such as storage items in the loft, loft insulation, floorboards, kitchen fittings or fixtures. Based on this, dismantling or moving works may be required to be carried out for the property and this is something outside of the standard pest control service.
